Viral Video Sparks Outrage as 75-Year-Old Retired IAS Officer Faces Assault
A shocking incident involving a 75-year-old retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer being assaulted by a bus conductor over a mere Rs 10 fare has come to light in Jaipur. The video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, highlights the alarming event that occurred on Friday.
The altercation began when the victim, RL Meena, missed his designated stop at the Kanota bus stand on Agra Road. The bus conductor, Ghanshyam Sharma, allegedly failed to inform Mr. Meena about the stop, causing the bus to proceed to the next stop at Nayla. When the conductor demanded an additional Rs 10 fare for the extra distance, Mr. Meena refused to pay, leading to a heated argument.
Confrontation Caught on Camera
The 44-second viral video shows the confrontation escalating, with Mr. Meena reportedly slapping the conductor after being pushed. In response, the conductor retaliated by repeatedly hitting the retired officer, even as onlookers failed to intervene. The victim eventually deboarded the bus amidst the assault.
Police Investigation Underway
Kanota Station House Officer (SHO) Uday Singh confirmed the details of the incident and stated that a complaint was filed by Mr. Meena at Kanota police station on Saturday. A detailed investigation is currently in progress, and the accused conductor has been identified as Ghanshyam Sharma.

Conductor Suspended for Misconduct
Following the incident, Jaipur City Transport Services Limited suspended the conductor for his misconduct. The case has sparked outrage, with many questioning the lack of intervention by passengers and the safety of elderly citizens on public transport.
